Elbow Conditions - Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow)

This condition, commonly called tennis elbow, is a degeneration of the tendons that attach to the lateral epicondyle, which is the bony bump on the outer side of the elbow. This is caused by repetitive trauma or aging and results in tenderness or pain at the lateral epicondyle. This pain can be made worse by extending the wrist or extending one's arm.

Treatment may include rest, immobilization with an arm brace or wrist splint, physical therapy, steroid injections, ice, and anti-inflammatory medications. Surgery may be indicated in severe cases or failure of non surgical remedies.
